This Week: Junot Diaz, THE BRIEF WONDROUS LIFE OF OSCAR WAO and Laraine Herring, WRITING BEGINS WITH THE BREATH

September 6th, 2007

We talk live with literary sensation Junot Diaz about THE BRIEF WONDROUS LIFE OF OSCAR WAO. This acclaimed debut novel is making a huge impact on the current literary landscape. The New York Times called it “a wondrous, not-so-brief first novel that is so original it can only be described as Mario Vargas Llosa meets “Star Trek” meets David Foster Wallace meets Kanye West.”
Diaz will be appearing at Hampshire College on Saturday September 8 at 7:30 PM after a signing at the Odyssey Bookshop in South Hadley.

Also, Laraine Herring shares her wisdom about writing. Her book is WRITING BEGINS WITH THE BREATH: Embodying Your Authentic Voice.
First broadcast on WMUA 91.1 on Friday, September 7 at 5pm ET.
