This Week: Leslie Cerier and Jim Armenti
May 24th, 2007
Gourmet Organic Chef and Cookbook author Leslie Cerier. Also, Jim Armenti of the Lonesome Brothers talks about The Great Pumpkin Roll and saving local libraries.
Leslie Cerier’s Going Wild in the Kitchen is the first comprehensive global vegetarian cookbook to go beyond the standard organic beans, grains, and vegetables. It contains over 150 kitchen-tested recipes that contain such unique ingredients as edible flowers; sea vegetables; wild mushrooms, berries, and herbs; and goat and sheep cheeses. She talks to Writer’s Voice host Francesca Rheannon and to fellow WMUA talk show host (and Writer’s Voice collaborator) Michael Pollitt about the book, the recipes, and great organic cooking using local resources.
Also, the Westhampton Public Library is in a fight for its life. Now singer-songwriter Jim Armenti of the Lonesome Brothers has come out with a new album to help in the effort, THE GREAT PUMPKIN ROLL. Tune in today as he talks about songwriting and saving local libraries — and he even gives us a tune or two. He’ll be appearing at the Montague Bookmill later in the evening after our talk on Writer’s Voice.
And if you want to help out the library yourself, show up at the “Lounging for Literacy Rally”
Lounging for Literacy will take place on Saturday, June 9, from 1-3 p.m., with an aerial photograph scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The event is free. For directions and more information, visit www.librarywesthampton.org or call Laurie Sanders at 413-527-5903.
Tune in on May 25 at 4 PM on 91.1 WMUA for the first broadcast of this episode. See sidebar for more broadcast times.
